Stepping into the Present

This past week has been a pretty busy week. Monday thru Friday I work at a hospital part-time from 6am-8am. Not enough time or money but its work for now. When I wasn’t working or doing schoolwork I was filling out application and doing cover letters and switching up my resume for different jobs I applied for.  I also make sure I find time to either go running or go to the gym before or after school. Last week was a bit of a pain on the running end due to the fact there was no good air, do to the temperature being below 20 degrees.
Often times within my week I try to put something in there that I look forward to. Lets face it sometimes you need to get out there and be social. This week my two little cousins were playing in the state tournament for hockey Wednesday night so that was it. Couldn’t have been any better right in the middle of the week. To go with it they won the game in the last five minutes in the third period with two quick goals to go up 4-2 and move on to the next round. They had their last game of there season yesterday and lost in double overtime. I couldn’t attend due too the fact that my sister is a basketball coach and had a game at Tufts yesterday. So yesterday I worked with one of my best friends putting in a boiler at a house in Melrose from 8am-4pm yesterday then a shower and to Medford too watch their game, which they lost. So all in all everyone in my family lost in their sporting event, with that being said they were all playoff games so it wasn’t that bad.
My Saturday mornings working on Boilers is one of the times I do my best thinking. I work with my long time friend who I have known since I was born. He grew up a street away from me. We have conversations about anything and everything.  Along with many laughs and more importantly getting the job done. To me there’s nothing better then working in an optimistic environment around people who want to be there and getting the job done. I tell him every time we work I wish I could do this every day. It’s hard work but good work every job is different you’re working with your hand and you always have too think, no job is the same. Now all I need to do is find out something similar to what I am doing Saturday for an everyday atmosphere or something close to it!

When I am in the Moment...

My Head is on a swivel
I live for moments like this
Calm cool and collective is key
Having a relaxed state of mind

I am on my toes and ready to jump
Timing has to be right
I never have any fright
It’s all about getting over that hump

If you’re constantly moving your good
When you stop you loss it
Breathing is control
Over sleep is for the weak

Conflict is inevitable
With good there’s evil
With hate there’s love
If you move you’ll always be above

Life is adversity
Standing still is sleeping
Moving is overcoming it
Strength in communication is success
That's the only way you win in this life!

  1. Kevin,

Great post! It seems like local sports is in your blood. You share many stories about how sports have impacted, and still impact your life. You seem to be close to family, and that's great.

I also like the boiler repair story. That seems like it's it. Do you think you could really enjoy that everyday? Have you ever thought about getting certified and starting your own business?

That might be an option, if you don't feel like standing still.

When you find a job or task that you love like that, you gotta go for it!
